ACPA Highlights

In 1990, the ACPA was awarded the coveted "State/Province Programs and Associations Award for Category I: Over 200,000 Population" by the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP). This award recognized the ACPA as the world's best crime prevention association for that year.  In the nomination, the hard work of the then Board of Directors was noted. They also mentioned creating the ACPA logo that appears at the top of this page. The ACPA was approved to be a 501(c)3 non profit organization in 1993 by the IRS.

In 1995, the ACPA participated in a special auto theft prevention program with the Arizona Automobile Association (AAA). The program was introduced at a press conference at the AAA headquarters. The program featured a reduced rate when people purchased the Club if they bought it through AAA.

In January of 2000, the ACPA hosted it's first "Preventing School Violence" Conference featuring instructors from all over the United States, including two who worked in Jefferson County, Colorado. The conference was attended by 250 people from the law enforcement and education communities making it the largest training in memory. Special acknowledgement to Officer Scott Kirkpatrick from the Chandler Police Department who coordinated this event.

On October 28, 2000, the ACPA was awarded the "State/Province Programs and Associations Award for Category I: Over 200,000 Population" by the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP). This is the second time the ACPA won this award. The award nomination noted the outstanding training offered by the Association and communication with members through e-mail, newsletter, and this Web site. The nomination was supported by Chief David Dobrotka from the Glendale Police Department.

In 2007, the ACPA will celebrate their 30th anniversary!
